The BEAGLE project was proud to participate in a dynamic and thought-provoking workshop held during the XXII APTE International Conference, hosted by Alicante Science Park on November 20–21.
The session brought together three Horizon Europe projectsL CO-VALUE, Kaleidos, and BEAGLE — alongside Policy Officer Iphigenia Pottaki from the European Commission’s Valorisation Policies and IPR department.
Designed to encourage open dialogue, the workshop facilitated natural conversations around shared challenges and opportunities in the field of research valorisation and co-creation. Each project provided updates and reflections, while Iphigenia Pottaki offered a valuable EU-level perspective on current policy directions and strategic priorities.
Key Takeaways from the Workshop
- Building bridges that last: Lasting impact emerges when research teams and industries collaborate closely. Strong regional ecosystems form when local companies, universities, and technology centres align their goals within the knowledge valorisation process.
- Beyond the numbers: True impact is about transformation — how knowledge turns into market-ready solutions. Efficient knowledge transfer is not just beneficial but essential to stay competitive in Europe’s innovation landscape.
- Real-world testing is key: Successfully adopting valorisation strategies depends on experimentation and practical evidence.
- Policy drives direction: The current EU policy framework is actively influencing the future of knowledge transfer, underlining the importance of aligning our projects with strategic EU missions.
We are grateful to Esteban Pelayo and the team at Alicante Science Park — Mar Cervera, Martina Tramonte, and Héctor López — for hosting this meaningful exchange. A special thanks also goes to Iphigenia Pottaki, and sister project coordinators Marzia Mazzonetto and Mareia Manent, for their valuable contributions.
Further appreciation goes to Josep Baiges Gispert, Eduard Vicente Pascual, and all those who made the event a success!
“New Open and Participatory Forms of Knowledge Transfer”
The roundtable on “New Open and Participatory Forms of Knowledge Transfer” provided an ideal platform for BEAGLE, CO-VALUE, and Kaleidos to present the challenges and opportunities they’ve encountered while engaging stakeholders across diverse ecosystems. These insights will help us strengthen co-creation processes and project implementation going forward.
Finally, a big thank you to our coordinator Dr. Xiaoni Li, and team members Domenec Puig and Yin Shi from Universitat Rovira i Virgili, for expertly presenting the BEAGLE project!
